1st Little Heath and Potters Bar Scout Group is a Scout Group in Hertfordshire, UK. We actively engage and support young people aged between 6 and 14 years old in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. In partnership with adults, young people take part in fun indoor and outdoor activities. They learn by doing, by sharing in spiritual reflection and by taking responsibility. They make choices, undertake new and challenging activities, and they live their Scout Promise.
We are based at 15 Quakers Lane, Potters Bar - though our Scout Hut is being rebuilt so are currently meeting in other Scout huts. We are part of Potters Bar & District Scouts, which in turn is part of Hertfordshire County.
We have three Sections:
A Beaver Colony - for young people aged between 6 and 8 years of age, meeting on Tuesdays 5:30pm-6:30pm at North Mymms Scout Hut (in Brookmans Park).
A Cub Pack - for young people aged between 6 and 10½ years of age, meeting on Tuesdays 7:00pm-8:15pm at North Mymms Scout Hut (in Brookmans Park).
A Scout Troop - for young people aged between 10½ and 14 years of age, meeting on Wednesdays 7:00pm-8:30pm at Northaw Scout Hut.
Scouts [website] is a national movement, open to young people aged 4–25 and adults who are willing to make the Scout Promise. People in areas of deprivation are able to benefit from our programme; while we charge a subscription to our members, access to our benefits aren’t constrained by a member’s ability to pay. Locally, there are arrangements to waive subscriptions and other costs for those who face financial hardship. Nationally, there are funds available for uniform and the cost of activities so that young people aren’t excluded from Scouts on purely financial grounds.
As Scouts, we are guided by these values:
Integrity: We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
Respect: We have self-respect and respect for others.
Care: We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
Belief: We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
Cooperation: We make a positive difference; we cooperate with others and make friends.
Scouts takes place when young people, in partnership with adult volunteers, work together based on the values of Scouts and:
enjoy what they are doing and have fun;
take part in activities indoors and outdoors;
learn by doing;
share in spiritual reflection;
take responsibility and make choices;
undertake new and challenging activities; and
make and live by their Promise.
